AKD advised BPA (Beheer, Projectontwikkeling en Advies Dynamostraat fase II) on the sale of social housing project 'De Startmotor' in Rotterdam South (including social housing, commercial spaces, a restaurant and parking spaces) to Aegon Nederland. Amvest acted for Aegon Nederland in this transaction.
BPA observed that young people have difficulty finding suitable housing in Rotterdam, and therefore developed a concept called 'De Startmotor'. This concept meets the housing demands of young people and their parents, as well as the policy objectives of the municipality of Rotterdam. 'De Startmotor' not only offers young people a place to live, but also a community with many shared facilities and help and support where needed. The "5-star residential concept" focuses on five points: (i) to provide an opportunity to young people to live together; (ii) to increase their comfort; (iii) to organise fun sports and cultural activities; (iv) to deliver independent residential units; and (v) to increase the residents' awareness of sustainability.
The project is currently being developed on Dynamo Street, Rotterdam, an urban renewal zone, near Zuidplein. The building is expected to be ready by summer 2020.
AKD's team advising BPA in this transaction was headed by Taco de Lange and also consisted of Harro Coppens, René van der Paardt and René Rietbroek.
