After more than 100 years, Woongroep Marenland has ceased to exist.
Based in the province of Groningen, Woongroep Marenland faced the challenge of fortifying its houses in the earthquake-prone gas extraction area in Groningen, as well as making its houses more sustainable. At the end of 2022, it appeared that the risks for Woongroep Marenland were too large to continue these projects.

Four other regional housing associations - Acantus, Goud Wonen, Wierden en Borgen and Groninger Huis - have acquired the houses from Woongroep Marenland on the occasion of Marenland’s legal division.

The AKD team consisted of Eelkje van de Kuilen, Nick van Dijk, Mels Landzaad, and Daniëlle Joosten, among other experts.
